June 15, 2020 Update
Due to COVID-19, this year's opening will look very different than what we are accustomed to, so please bear with us while we work through this modified approach. Safety for our lifeguards and all members using the facility is our top priority. This phased opening will help ensure our safeguards are working and will allow lifeguards the opportunity to develop routines for proper cleaning and disinfecting of the facility throughout the day. All swim sessions will be highly controlled to ensure we meet the requirements set forth by King County Public Health, which governs the use and licensing of our pool.
From June 17-21, the pool will be open for scheduled lap swimming only. We will be allowing a maximum of 5 people per lot number per lane. Lanes can be reserved by checking in at the pool office starting June 17. Reservations will be limited to 30 minute time slots. One reservation per lot number will be allowed per day. These sessions are intended for lap swimming only. Open swim/personal play will not be allowed.
Starting June 22, we are planning to launch a more family-friendly opportunity for our members. Our plan is to divide the pool into 5 sections (2 deep end, 2 shallow end, 1 wading pool). These "sections" will be reservable, one lot number per section. Reservations will be 1 hour long and a maximum of 5 swimmers per lot number may be in the pool at one time. Each lot number will be allowed one reservation per day. In terms of pool deck usage, members will be required to use the deck space adjacent to their reserved swimming area. It is advisable to bring your own chairs/deck furniture to reduce the need to disinfect.
Plans of additional designated lap swim times, water aerobics, swim lessons and reservation rules are currently being worked on and will be shared in the near future.
Please understand that all plans presently laid out are highly fluid and may need to change at any given time. We recognize that this current plan is not ideal and some members will be more impacted than others. Our goal is to make the most equitable and safe environment for the group as a whole given the circumstances. We also recognize that these open swim time slots are going to be highly sought after and we simply ask members to limit their sign ups during the initial weeks in order to give all members an opportunity to use the facility.
